Pay it forward coffee this week

By simply buying a coffee, you could help pay it forward to a deserving person this week.

Thirteen Canterbury cafes are part of a nationwide project called The Happiest Hour, where if you buy a coffee between 8am and 9am, Hummingbird Coffee will shout a coffee to someone deserving of that wee boost to get them through.

If you can't get to a participating cafe, you can head to hummingbird.com, purchase coffee and Hummingbird will throw in a 200gm bag for you to gift to someone else.

Hummingbird Coffee general manager Nick Cowper said the project was established to acknowledge those out there who have been doing it tough or supporting fellow New Zealanders during the Convid-19 response.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by all the groups that have been so dedicated in a time of need and I think we are all way more aware that being kind and hard work is what Kiwis personify. A little kindness goes a long way,” he said.

Hummingbird Coffee was founded in Christchurch and opened the very first pop-up café following the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes in the city’s Re:Start shipping container mall where it also launched Re:Start coffee.
